Shengli Offshore Drilling Company (SODC), a subsidiary of
SINOPEC, is a drilling contractor working in shallow and extreme
shallow waters. The company owns eight drilling rigs, including
three swap drilling barges and five jack-ups. Three rigs are
certified as “Great Wall Drilling Team” by CNPC, other five rigs
are qualified as “A Grade Drilling Team”. All rigs have valid
CCS certificates. SODC started operation in 1978 offshore
Shengli, and expanded its career allover Bohai Bay, China, such
as Liaohe oilfield, Dagang oilfield and Jidong oilfield, and
obtained abundant experiences in this area in dealing with deep
wells, abnormal pressure wells, high inclination wells,
horizontal wells, multi-target wells as well as cluster wells.
With its hard work, SODC has discovered two big oilfields in the
last two decades, there are ChengDao oilfield and KuiHuaDao
oilfield.
The operating water
depth of the rigs ranges from 0 to 40 meters, and drilling
ability varies from 4500m to 9000m. Two jack-ups are
cantilevered, other jack-ups are drilling-slot type, all of them
have the capability to drill 6-9 wells form one location. Rig
Shengli2 and Shengli3 are designed and built in China, others
are imported from overseas. After importation, SODC has put a
lot of investment in rig upgrading. Four rigs are installed with
Top Drives and all the rigs are equipped with advanced drilling
instrumentation, for instance, Martin Decker.
Besides the
drilling operation, SODC can also provide other special services
such as logistic supply, directional drilling, mud engineering,
cementing, mud logging and site survey etc.. SODC began to work
with western oil company in 1997, including Kerr McGee, Apache,
EDC and Agip in Bohai Bay, and till now, 31 wells have been
drilled on both day rate basis and turnkey basis for these
companies.
